PAM’S PICK…

A few days ago, I ordered a dozen books called “The Magic”. Certainly not a new book… but for those of you who haven’t read it and completed the 28-day program, IT IS SO WORTH IT! And for those that have read it, it might be time to revisit it and complete a second round 28-day practice.

The Magic is all about GRATITUDE. And what can I say about Gratitude that hasn’t been said, over and over in different ways, for at least the past couple of centuries. Probably not a lot… that said, I’m going to dive in and share my experience of this book, which by the way, I’m not even finished!

Let’s start with what research has to say. As reported in The Magic, studies show that “people who practice gratitude have closer relationships, are more connected to family and friends, and have other people look upon them favourably”. An even more most astounding statistic to me is that “for every single complaint about another person, whether in thought or word, there have to be ten blessings for the relationship to flourish!” WOW!

So… I don’t have a lot of data. As I mentioned, I haven’t yet read the book from cover to cover. But here’s my experience… I’m incredibly happy and I’m feeling gratitude to such an extent that I’m moved repeatedly every single day. And this in the context of facing some major challenges! GO FIGURE! … challenged and yet experiencing deep gratitude. This is SO COOL and so much FUN!

Wayne Dyer once said, “Change the way you look at things and the things you look at change”. I get this and have for a very long time. The magic of using gratitude as an organizing principle for my choice of thoughts, however, is pivotal. When I choose to look through the lens of gratitude, I can transform almost any experience, no matter how difficult or challenging, into one that is rich and fulfilling. How good is that!

And so, as you move into both the magical season and decade ahead, focus on what you’re grateful for. Savour what you love about the people most important to you. Appreciate your wealth… of knowledge, of opportunity and of health! Focus on what you’re most grateful for and why. And… for insurance, put The Magic in the bathroom of every home you plan to visit over the holiday season… it might just remind people of how truly fortunate we are and shift the experience of your whole holiday season… and your life!!!

From all of us at ESI, sending you the Magic of Gratitude for your Holiday Season and for Year Ahead!
